HorizonPSI is pleased to donate equipment to an effort by the Kansas State University Grain Science and Industry Department to expand their on-campus production lab capabilities.

The goal of this project is to expand K-State’s current blending/loading system to include packaging equipment. The donated system components will allow the lab to convey flour at 5500 pounds per hour and will benefit the program by:

  • Providing students with hands-on experience with system design and processing equipment
  • Providing an opportunity to learn more about end-to-end production via courses designed to understand packing equipment and materials
  • Providing the Milling Science Club with a complete system to produce product to sell

As part of this unique experience, students will be handling both flour and bakery mixes and packaging these for fundraising. These funds will be used to help students go to conferences such as the International Association of Operative Miller (IAOM) and Grain Elevator & Processing Society (GEAPS.)

The Grain Science and Industry Department's strategic plan supports Kansas State University's mission to foster excellent teaching, research and service that develop a highly skilled and educated citizenry necessary to advancing the well-being of Kansas, the nation and the international community.
